Samsung India Employees Union Calls Off Protest
In a significant development, the Samsung India employees' union has decided to withdraw its protest against the company. This decision comes after Samsung agreed to allow the employees to rejoin work, effectively bringing an end to a series of demonstrations and protests.

The company, in a notice posted outside its facility at Sunguvarchatram, announced that employees would be allowed back to work starting Saturday. However, it was noted that 23 suspended employees would not be permitted to return to work immediately. These workers are to undergo disciplinary action proceedings pending an enquiry.
A Samsung spokesperson expressed the company's hope to resolve any outstanding issues directly with its workers. "Samsung welcomes the workers' decision to call off the illegal strike and resume their duties at the Chennai plant. Our initiative to welcome back striking workers and our proactive engagement have facilitated their return, effectively ending the strike. We remain committed to enforcing discipline in the premises and resolving outstanding issues directly with our workers to maintain a positive work environment," the spokesperson said.
Despite the union's demands for the reinstatement of suspended workers and opposition to salary deductions for protestors, a compromise was reached. The union agreed to return to work without resolving these issues. E Muthukumar, head of the Samsung employees union, mentioned to TOI, "Samsung has agreed to pay the salaries of the workers starting Friday. We are willing to cooperate to resolve the issue if they are ready. We are even ready to work overtime considering the current situation."
