
March Sees a Slight Increase in Unemployment
Australia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 4.1% in March from 4% the previous month, according to the latest data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Thursday.
Job Market Shows Resilience
Despite the slight uptick in unemployment, the Australian job market demonstrated resilience with a notable increase in employment. In March, 32,200 individuals secured jobs, a significant rise from the 13,900 jobs added in February.
Full-Time and Part-Time Employment Trends
Full-time employment saw an increase of 15,000, bringing the total to 10,014,100 people. Part-time employment also rose by 17,200, reaching 4,530,000 people. However, the number of unemployed individuals increased by 3,000.
Stable Employment Ratios
The employment-to-population ratio remained steady at 64.1%, and the underemployment rate held at 5.9%. The participation rate experienced a slight increase, climbing to 66.8%.
