Kerala's Leap Towards Sustainable Development
Kerala forest minister AK Saseendran has announced the near completion of a Rs 220 crore project, aimed at safeguarding hill farmers from wildlife attacks. This initiative, supported by KIIFB, includes the installation of 95 km of solar fencing and the relocation of 186 families, marking a significant step towards resolving human-wildlife conflicts.

Addressing Human-Wildlife Conflict with Innovative Solutions
The Forest Department is exploring development potential beyond conservation, with KIIFB funding projects worth Rs 633.59 crore. A portion of this, Rs 220 crore, is dedicated to mitigating human-wildlife conflicts, including Rs 136.52 crore for rehabilitation. Efforts also include replacing invasive species with native trees to restore ecological balance.
Infrastructure and Community Development
Pathanapuram constituency showcases comprehensive development with KIIFB-funded bridges, roads, and water projects. Transport minister KB Ganesh Kumar highlighted projects worth Rs 250 crore, including the Pattazhi drinking water project, addressing water scarcity in several panchayats.

Conservation Efforts and Future Plans
Kerala's commitment to conservation is evident with the launch of an elephant conservation centre and plans for a zoological park, both supported by KIIFB. These projects reflect a balanced approach to development and environmental preservation.
