HYDERABAD: A Leap Towards Green Energy
Telangana has marked a significant milestone in its green energy journey by securing a Rs 1500 crore investment in compressed biogas (CBG) production facilities. This investment comes from a strategic alliance between South Africa's Biovest Holdings, Hyderabad-based Spantech Engineers (India), and EcoMax Energy (India). The collaboration aims to establish 20 CBG plants across various districts in the state.

Technology Transfer and Local Manufacturing
The partners have entered into a bilateral technology transfer agreement. Spantech will supply its biogas purification systems, BioGenie, to Biovest. In return, Biovest will license its innovative containerised modular anaerobic digestion technology, Herba, to Spantech for local manufacturing in Hyderabad. This technology boasts the capability of tripling biomethane yields.
Expansion and Employment Opportunities
EcoMax Energy, as the exclusive partner, will deploy the Herba technology in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, fostering investments and generating thousands of jobs. The vision includes setting up one CBG plant in each district, leveraging the Herba technology. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed in the presence of Telangana government officials.
EcoMax Energy CEO & managing director M Rithvik Rao emphasized the project's ambition to transform Telangana into a green energy hub, achieving self-reliance in compressed natural gas consumption while creating green jobs and supporting agricultural communities. The project is attracting capital from European green funds and development banks, highlighting its global environmental significance.
