Microsoft Announces Significant Price Hikes for Xbox Consoles and Games Worldwide

Microsoft Adjusts Xbox Pricing Amid Rising Development Costs

In a move that's set to affect gamers around the globe, Microsoft Corporation has announced a significant increase in the recommended retail prices for its Xbox consoles and accessories. The adjustment comes as the company cites the escalating costs associated with game development.

New Pricing Structure Unveiled

The Xbox Series X will now retail at $599.99 in the US, marking a $100 increase. Meanwhile, the 512GB Xbox Series S sees an $80 jump to $379.99. The 1TB version isn't spared either, with its price rising to $429.99. Notably, the new 2TB Galaxy Black edition is priced at a premium $729.99.

Accessories and Games Also Affected

It's not just the consoles that are getting more expensive. Prices for controllers and accessories have also seen a global uptick, with headsets specifically affected in the US and Canada. Furthermore, Microsoft plans to increase the price of some new first-party games to $79.99 starting this holiday season.

"We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development," the company stated, acknowledging the potential impact on its consumer base.
