Historic Energy Agreement Between Syria and Turkey

In a significant move to address its energy shortages, Syria is on the verge of signing a pivotal agreement to import electricity from Turkey. This deal involves the construction of a 400-kilovolt transmission line, directly linking the two nations, as confirmed by Syrian Energy Minister Mohamed al-Bashir this Sunday.

Boosting Syria's Energy Infrastructure

Beyond electricity, the collaboration extends to natural gas, with a pipeline project between Kilis and Aleppo in the works. "This pipeline is expected to deliver up to 6 million cubic meters of gas daily to Syria's power plants, marking a substantial leap towards stabilizing the country's energy supply," al-Bashir elaborated. This dual approach underscores a comprehensive strategy to rejuvenate Syria's energy sector.
