Massive Job Cuts in Barcelona

In a significant blow to the workforce in Spain, over 2,000 content moderators for Meta platforms are facing layoffs. This drastic measure comes after Telus International, the Canadian firm tasked with moderating content on Facebook and Instagram, lost its contract with Meta.

The End of an Agreement

The Workers Commissions in Spain (CCOO) disclosed that Telus International, operating in Spain as CCC Barcelona Digital Services since 2018, has formally presented a dismissal plan affecting 2,059 employees. This decision follows the termination of the agreement between Telus and the tech giant Meta.

Ensuring Fair Compensation

Amidst the layoffs, there's a silver lining. The CCOO has secured a preliminary agreement with Telus International, ensuring that the affected workers will receive the highest compensation possible under Spanish law.
