IBM CEO Urges Shift from AI Experimentation to Delivering Real Business Value Now

IBM's Vision for AI: Beyond Experimentation to Business Impact

Bengaluru: In a groundbreaking announcement, IBM forecasts the creation of over 1 billion applications powered by Generative AI by 2028. This prediction comes as a recent IBM study reveals that business leaders are planning to significantly increase their AI investments in the next two years, with a focus on adopting and scaling AI agents.

Despite the enthusiasm, the journey hasn't been smooth. Only 25% of AI initiatives have met their expected return on investment (RoI), a challenge IBM's Chairman & CEO, Arvind Krishna, attributes to issues like limited access to enterprise data, application silos, and infrastructure fragmentation. "This is precisely why our focus is on integrating hybrid cloud and AI technologies," Krishna explained during a virtual press conference ahead of IBM's flagship Think event in the US.

Krishna emphasized that clients are now prioritizing productivity, cost savings, and revenue growth. "AI stands out as a technology that can simultaneously address all three areas. The shift we're witnessing is from mere experimentation to a concentrated effort on extracting tangible business value. The era of AI experimentation is conclusively over," he stated.
