Tesla's April Sales in China See a 6% Decline

Preliminary data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) this Wednesday reveals a notable downturn for Tesla, Inc. in the Chinese market. The electric vehicle giant sold 58,459 China-made vehicles in April, marking a 6% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. This figure encompasses the locally produced Model 3 and Model Y, which also witnessed a significant drop of over 25% from March's sales.
BYD Outpaces Tesla with a 20% Year-on-Year Increase
In contrast, BYD, Tesla's main competitor in China, reported an impressive nearly 20% year-on-year growth, delivering a total of 372,615 units. This includes both pure electric and hybrid models, underscoring the intensifying competition in China's electric vehicle sector.
