European Markets Open Lower
Major European stock indexes opened mostly lower on Wednesday as investors digested a mix of corporate earnings and economic indicators. The backdrop of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan added to the market's cautious stance.
Key Indexes and Stocks Performance
At 9:01 am CET, the French CAC 40 lost 0.38%, with Sanofi underperforming by 2.59%. The FTSE 100 slipped by 0.19%, dragged down by BT Group's 3.43% drop. Shortly after, the pan-European Euro Stoxx 50 declined by 0.16%, as Infineon Technologies fell 2.46%, while the DAX traded flat.
Currency Markets Hold Steady
On the currency front, the euro and British pound traded flat against the dollar, at $1.13712 and $1.33610 respectively, as the trading world awaited the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision later in the day.
