On Wednesday, European equity indices closed lower as traders took stock of recent corporate earnings and looked ahead to pivotal monetary policy decisions. The focus was particularly on the Federal Reserve's first meeting following US President Donald Trump's announcement of retaliatory tariffs in early April, alongside upcoming deliberations by the Bank of England.

The DAX saw a decrease of 0.58%, with Sartorius AG VZO ON dropping by 3.46%. The FTSE 100 fell by 0.44%, as Gsk PLC declined by 4.93%. The EURO STOXX 50 and the CAC 40 also experienced downturns, falling by 0.60% and 0.91% respectively, with Sanofi SA losing 4.31%.
