Apple's Stance on Search Engines and Future AI Plans
At the recent Google LLC antitrust trial, Apple Inc.'s Senior Vice President of Services, Eddy Cue, shed light on the tech giant's approach to search engines and its future directions in artificial intelligence (AI).
"We were never interested in doing a search engine because we were very happy partnering with someone. We can't do everything, so we have to choose the things that we do," Cue remarked, emphasizing Google's dominance in the search engine market.
Exploring AI Search Options for Safari
Amidst the ongoing AI craze, Apple is actively considering integrating AI search functionalities into its Safari web browser. Cue revealed that the company is evaluating several options, including collaborations with Anthropic PBC, OpenAI Inc., Perplexity AI, Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Basic Technology Research Co., Ltd., and Grok.
