Government Orders X to Block 8,000 Handles in India

NEW DELHI: In a significant development, X announced on Thursday its compliance with government orders to block 8,000 accounts. This sweeping action includes accounts belonging to international news organizations and prominent figures.

Concerns Over Lack of Transparency

"In most instances, the Indian government has not pinpointed which specific posts from an account breached local laws. For a considerable number of these accounts, we were not provided with any evidence or justification for the blocks," X stated, highlighting the challenges in the process.
