Heightened Security Measures Disrupt Air Travel in Delhi
Around 100 flights to and from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were cancelled on Sunday, as heightened security measures were implemented across northern and western India. This development comes in the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Ceasefire Agreement Impacts Air Travel
The cancellations followed a mutual understanding reached between India and Pakistan on Saturday to cease all firings and military actions across land, air, and sea with immediate effect. According to a source quoted by news agency PTI, the flight cancellations at Delhi airport between 5:00 am and 4:30 pm included 52 domestic departures, 44 domestic arrivals, and one international departure.
Airport Operations Continue Amid Adjustments
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport, stated in a post on X that the airport is operating normally. However, due to changes in airspace dynamics and increased security measures, some flight schedules and security checkpoint processing times may be affected. Indira Gandhi International Airport remains the country’s busiest aviation hub.
