Tata Electronics looks to double Apple iPhones enclosures production in India to one lakh

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently highlighted India's growing importance as a manufacturing hub for iPhones destined for the US market. "For the June quarter, we do expect the majority of iPhones sold in the US will have India as their country of origin," Cook stated during Apple's Q1 earnings call.

Post-Fire Recovery and Future Plans

Following a temporary setback due to a fire incident last September, Tata Electronics has successfully restored its production capacity to pre-fire levels. The company is now focusing on doubling its output to meet the anticipated demand ahead of Apple's annual product launches in September.

Strategic Acquisitions and Global Supply Chain

Tata Electronics has been actively strengthening its position in Apple's global value chain through strategic acquisitions, including a majority stake in Pegatron Technology India and Wistron's India operations. These moves underscore the company's commitment to enhancing its manufacturing capabilities in India.

Meanwhile, other Apple suppliers like Jabil are also scaling up their production in India, signaling a shift in the global supply chain dynamics amid ongoing trade tensions between the US and China.

Foxconn's Expanding Footprint in India

Foxconn, another key Apple supplier, is making significant investments in India, including the establishment of a new factory in Bengaluru and a facility in Hyderabad dedicated to AirPods production. These developments reflect the growing importance of India as a manufacturing hub for Apple's diverse product range.
