Vedanta's Strategic Exploration for Critical Minerals
Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Ltd is aggressively exploring critical mineral resources across six Indian states—Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh. This move aims to solidify Vedanta's position in the burgeoning clean energy sector.

The Importance of Critical Minerals
Critical minerals are essential for various energy-efficient technologies, such as electric vehicles, wind turbines, and modern electricity grids. With the global shift towards clean energy, the demand for these materials is skyrocketing.
Vedanta's Recent Achievements
Vedanta has secured four mineral blocks in the latest round of critical mineral auctions, including vanadium and graphite in Arunachal Pradesh and cobalt, manganese, and iron in Karnataka. Its subsidiary, Hindustan Zinc Ltd, also won tungsten blocks in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Expanding Value-Added Products
Beyond mining, Vedanta is enhancing its portfolio with zinc alloys and aluminium. A new zinc alloy plant with a 30,000-tonne annual capacity is underway, alongside a $1.5 billion investment in aluminium smelter expansion and value-added product capacity.
Vedanta's Global Metal Production
As one of the few global producers of iron, aluminium, copper, and zinc, Vedanta plays a pivotal role in the metals industry, supporting the world's infrastructure and clean energy transition.
