India Reopens Airports Following Ceasefire

All 32 airports in north, west, and central India, closed since May 7 for commercial operations, reopened at 10.30 am Monday following the India-Pakistan ceasefire. Airlines have started resuming operations to their network stations in these areas, aiming to restore all suspended 350-400 daily flights in the coming days.

Clearing the Backlog

Airlines, including IndiGo, have announced plans to operate extra flights to clear the backlog of stranded passengers, a process expected to take a few days.

Among the airports temporarily closed and now reopened are Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and several others across the region.

Airlines' Response

IndiGo and Air India are among the first to resume flights, with operations gradually returning to normal. Air India Express also plans to restart services to previously closed airports, including international flights from Amritsar from May 15.
