SpiceJet to Resume Haj Flights from Srinagar
SpiceJet has announced the resumption of its Haj 2025 operations from Srinagar, with flights scheduled to depart for Medina starting May 14. This move follows the reopening of Srinagar airport for civilian flights after a temporary shutdown due to recent military tensions between India and Pakistan.

Facilitating Pilgrim Travel
The airline plans to operate two flights to Medina using wide-body Airbus A340 aircraft, each capable of accommodating 324 passengers. This initiative is expected to facilitate the travel of approximately 15,500 Haj pilgrims this year.
Expanding Haj Operations
Earlier this month, SpiceJet confirmed its plans to operate 45 Haj flights in the first phase, connecting various Indian cities including Gaya, Srinagar, Guwahati, and Kolkata with destinations in Saudi Arabia such as Medina and Jeddah.
Haj 2025 Details
Haj 2025 is scheduled to take place between June 4 and 9, with India expected to have a significant representation. Saudi Arabia allocates pilgrimage quotas based on the Muslim population proportion, with India's quota standing at 1,75,025 pilgrims for 2025.
Challenges in Pilgrimage Quotas
Out of India’s total quota, a portion was allocated to private tour operators who failed to meet the required formalities, leading to the cancellation of their quota due to logistical constraints.
