Tesla Inc. has yet to begin testing its autonomous vehicles without a human safety driver, despite the anticipated launch of its first robotaxi in June in Austin, Texas, according to a source familiar with the matter as reported by The Information on Tuesday.

The company initiated tests on the Model Y last fall, with all rides being closely monitored by a human safety driver, Tesla disclosed in April. The progression to a phase without human oversight is pending, with no clear start date in sight.
