Boosting Local and Global Tech Supply Chains

Specializing in display driver chips for a wide range of devices including mobile phones, laptops, and automobiles, the plant is designed to produce 20,000 wafers per month, translating to 36 million units monthly. It promises to generate around 2,000 jobs, contributing significantly to local employment and skill development.

Strategic Importance of the Semiconductor Unit

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the project's role in fostering a pan-India semiconductor ecosystem, leveraging the nation's talent pool. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance India's semiconductor industry, covering design, fabrication, and supply chains.

With five other semiconductor units already under construction in Gujarat and Assam, this sixth unit underscores India's commitment to becoming a key player in the global semiconductor market.
