Alwar Fruit Traders Take a Stand: Nationwide Boycott of Turkish Apples Over Turkey's Pro-Pakistan Stance

Alwar Fruit Traders Join National Boycott Against Turkish Products

In a bold move reflecting national sentiment, traders in Rajasthan's Alwar have removed Turkish apples from their shelves. This decision is part of a wider boycott of Turkish goods, sparked by Turkey's supportive stance towards Pakistan during India's recent military operations against terror camps under 'Operation Sindoor'.

Economic Pushback Gains Momentum

The Alwar Fruit Mandi Union has announced a complete halt on the sale of Turkish apples, a decision fueled by public outrage and the desire to economically counter Turkey's position. "This is not just a market decision, it's a message," stated Saurabh Kalra, General Secretary of the Fruit Mandi Union. Shops will now display posters announcing the boycott, and an awareness campaign is underway to ensure compliance.

Alternative Sources and Broader Implications

Union secretary Pankaj Saini confirmed that apples from Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and South Africa would fill the gap left by Turkish imports. The traders' association also urged Indians to reconsider travel to Turkey, with leading travel platforms like EaseMyTrip and Ixigo discouraging visits to Turkey and Azerbaijan. This boycott is a significant move, considering Turkey exports goods worth over Rs 1,200 crore annually to India, with fruits like apples being a major component.
