Air India's Appeal to Indian Authorities

Air India has formally requested the Indian government to intervene and halt IndiGo's leasing agreement with Turkish Airlines. This move is reportedly due to concerns over business implications and national security, given Turkey's support for Pakistan.

IndiGo's Leasing Agreement with Turkish Airlines has been in place since 2023, involving two aircraft, pilots, and crew members for flights between New Delhi, Mumbai, and Istanbul.

Air India argues that the agreement disproportionately benefits Turkey's tourism sector at the expense of India's aviation industry. The Indian government has already withdrawn security authorization for a Turkish ground handling company, citing national security.
