In a significant move to bolster safety measures, Tata Group has announced the formation of a committee comprising CEOs from its major operating companies. This initiative underscores the conglomerate's commitment to making safety a top priority across its vast and diverse business operations.

Strengthening Safety in Expansion and Existing Operations

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, highlighted the importance of safety as the group expands into new areas and continues to grow its existing businesses. "Safety is reviewed at every board meeting," Chandrasekaran stated, emphasizing the group's proactive approach to preventing accidents and ensuring the well-being of its employees and customers.

Safety Measures in Key Subsidiaries

Examples of the group's safety initiatives include the appointment of a chief safety officer at Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and rigorous safety protocols at Tata Steel. Despite these efforts, Tata Steel reported five fatalities in FY25, a stark reminder of the challenges ahead. Chandrasekaran reiterated the group's goal of achieving "zero harm" across all operations.
