FSSAI's Stern Warning to E-Commerce Platforms
In a bold move to ensure food safety, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a stern warning to e-commerce platforms. The regulatory body has threatened severe action against those failing to comply with established food safety protocols.

Key Measures Announced
During a crucial meeting, FSSAI CEO G Kamala Vardhana Rao directed companies to share detailed data about their warehouses and food handlers. Additionally, platforms are now required to display their FSSAI licence number on every receipt, invoice, and cash memo provided to consumers.
Focus on Transparency and Compliance
The meeting underscored the importance of transparency and compliance in the e-commerce food supply chain. A significant emphasis was placed on the need for platforms to disclose comprehensive details of their warehouses and storage facilities on the FoSCoS portal.
Recent Scrutiny on Quick Commerce Platforms
This development follows recent scrutiny over food safety violations by quick commerce platforms. Notably, the Maharashtra FDA suspended licenses of Zepto and Blinkit stores due to non-compliance, though these were later reinstated after inspections.
