The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has marked a significant milestone in 2024, signing over 2,000 technology transfer agreements and issuing more than 200 production licences. This achievement underscores India's relentless push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

Empowering Private Industries

Dr. Chandrika Kaushik, Director General (PC&SI) of DRDO, revealed that more than 130 private industries have been onboarded as development partners or production agencies in the past five years. The Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme is providing these industries with up to Rs 50 crore per system for developing core military technologies, alongside technical guidance from DRDO scientists.

Industry Leaders Share Insights

The CII Manufacturing Conclave East in Kolkata also featured key industry leaders. Sudhanshu Mani, the architect of the Vande Bharat train, emphasized the importance of synchronizing manufacturing with logistics. Ashish Anupam of Tata Steel highlighted that eastern India's industrial growth is outpacing the national average.

CII's Global Market Initiative

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) introduced its Market Facilitation Services (MFS) initiative, aimed at assisting Indian industries in accessing global markets, further showcasing India's growing industrial capabilities on the world stage.
