Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Eyes India as a Top Growth Market
NEW DELHI: Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchisor, is betting big on India, with plans to add over 50 new properties and introduce more of its global brands to the country. This move signals India's growing importance as a key market for the hospitality giant.

Expansion Plans and Brand Portfolio Growth
During an exclusive interview, Dimitris Manikis, President for EMEA, and Rahool Macarius, Managing Director for Eurasia, shared insights into Wyndham's ambitious expansion strategy. "With over 70 hotels currently and a pipeline of more than 50, India is a sprinting goal post for us," said Macarius. While Ramada remains a flagship brand, Wyndham is keen on diversifying its presence with additional brands from its portfolio of 25.
Challenges and Opportunities in Indian Tourism
Manikis highlighted the potential for India to emerge as a leading global tourism destination, emphasizing the need for improved marketing, more direct international flights, and streamlined visa processes. "Making entry into the country as easy as possible is critical for attracting global travelers," he noted.
Strategic Partnerships and Future Outlook
Wyndham's recent partnership with Cygnett Hotels & Resorts to launch La Quinta by Wyndham and Registry Collection Hotels in India underscores its commitment to the market. With a presence in approximately 95 countries and over 9,300 hotels, Wyndham is poised to redefine hospitality in India.
