Mandatory Biometric Update for Children's Aadhaar
Children who received their Aadhaar before turning five must update their biometrics by the age of seven to prevent deactivation, warns the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

What is the MBU?
A child under five is enrolled in Aadhaar with just a photograph and demographic details. At five, they must update fingerprints, iris scans, and a new photo, known as the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU).
Charges and Importance of Timely Updates
Updating between five and seven is free; after seven, a nominal fee of Rs 100 applies. Failure to update can disrupt access to Aadhaar-linked services like school admissions and scholarships.
UIDAI's Advice to Parents and GuardiansEnsure timely updates to maintain seamless utility of Aadhaar and avoid service disruptions.
