India's Vision for Automotive Leadership
The Indian government has unveiled the Automotive Mission Plan 2047 (AMP 2047), a visionary strategy designed to propel India to the forefront of the global automotive industry. This ambitious plan is part of the broader 'Viksit Bharat @2047' vision, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and enhancing India's share in international automotive trade.

Strategic Framework and Collaborative Efforts
Seven expert sub-committees have been established to guide the AMP 2047's development, involving stakeholders from the government, industry, and academia. These committees have begun outlining the plan's objectives, framework, and specific targets for growth, exports, and technological advancements.
Building on Past Successes
AMP 2047 is set to build upon the achievements of the Automotive Mission Plan 2016–2026 (AMP 2026), which aimed to make India one of the top three global players in vehicle and component manufacturing. The new plan introduces milestones for 2030, 2037, and 2047, addressing future challenges like electric mobility and charging infrastructure.
Government and Industry Synergy
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy, the initiative enjoys broad support from various ministries and industry bodies. This collaborative effort underscores India's commitment to becoming a global automotive powerhouse by 2047.
