In a heartfelt response to the tragic Air India Flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad, the Tata Group has announced the creation of a Rs 500 crore welfare trust. This initiative aims to provide immediate and long-term support to the families of the 260 victims, including 19 on the ground, and those injured in the catastrophe.

The newly formed 'The AI-171 Memorial and Welfare Trust' is set to offer an ex gratia payment of Rs 1 crore to each bereaved family, cover medical expenses for the injured, and contribute to rebuilding the damaged B J Medical College Hostel. Moreover, the Trust will extend its support to the brave first responders and medical professionals who played a crucial role in the aftermath.

A Collective Effort for a Noble Cause

With Rs 250 crore each from Tata Sons and Tata Trusts, the initiative underscores the Tata Group's commitment to societal welfare. Managed by a dedicated Board of Trustees, the Trust is a testament to the enduring spirit of compassion and resilience in the face of adversity.
