A Legacy Brand Reborn

Kelvinator, known for its premium refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners, first made its mark in India in the 1960s. Despite a tumultuous history, including acquisitions by Whirlpool and Videocon Industries, Kelvinator has been revitalized under Reliance Retail since 2019. The brand's rich heritage and innovative products are set to thrive with Reliance's vast retail network.

Financial and Strategic Implications

While the financial details remain undisclosed, Electrolux reported a gain of approximately $18.5 million from the divestment. This acquisition not only expands Reliance Retail's portfolio but also enhances its ability to offer flexible payment schemes and EMI plans, catering to a broader customer base.

Future Prospects

With plans to leverage Kelvinator’s innovation and its own distribution capabilities, Reliance Retail aims to redefine the premium home appliances market in India. Isha M Ambani, Executive Director at Reliance Retail Ventures, emphasized the acquisition as a pivotal moment to bring trusted global innovations to Indian consumers.
