IndiGo's New Chapter at Hindon Airport
Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu inaugurated IndiGo's services from Hindon Airport to nine Indian cities, marking a significant leap in regional air connectivity. This expansion introduces flights to Bengaluru, Kolkata, Varanasi, Goa, Patna, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Indore, positioning Hindon as the NCR's second civilian aviation hub alongside Delhi’s IGI Airport.

UDAN Scheme's Success Story
Minister Naidu hailed the expansion as a triumph of the UDAN scheme, emphasizing its role in fulfilling the aspirations of common Indians. He underscored the aviation sector's rapid growth, with airlines, airport terminals, and flyers doubling in the past decade, and projected tier II and III cities as the drivers of future growth.
Hindon Airport's Transformation
Redeveloped in 2019 under the UDAN scheme, Hindon Airport has seen its annual flyers surge from 8,000 to over 80,000. The minister linked this growth to India's ambition of becoming a global aviation hub by 2030, with the Union Budget 2025-26 unveiling a revamped UDAN scheme aiming for 120 new destinations and 4 crore additional passengers in the next decade.
"With IndiGo’s entry, Hindon is now more than just an alternate airport, it’s a gateway to new opportunities," Naidu said.
