UIDAI's New Measures Against Aadhaar Fraud
The Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) is intensifying its efforts to curb fraud related to Aadhaar cards, focusing on stringent checks for updates and applications. With the rise in counterfeit UID numbers, UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar has announced robust security measures, including restrictions on frequent changes to birth dates and biometric data.

Advanced Technologies to Ensure Integrity
UIDAI is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to identify and prevent fraudulent activities. These technologies will help in detecting incorrect photographs and biometric information, ensuring the authenticity of Aadhaar details.
Digital Transformation and Verification Processes
The authority is digitalizing the Aadhaar application process and mandating online-verifiable documentation systems across all states. This move aims to streamline applications and updates while enhancing security through direct database integrations.
Preventing Biometric Fraud
UIDAI has implemented AI/ML algorithms for live fingerprint detection and age assessment through AI-powered cameras, preventing misuse of the system. The authority is also considering limiting fingerprint update frequencies to deter fraudulent activities.
Strict Protocols for Non-Citizens
UIDAI maintains rigorous checks for non-citizens applying for Aadhaar, requiring a mandatory 180-day residence period. The authority has already rejected numerous applications from foreigners attempting to apply under the Indian category.
