Record Low Prices for US Cherries in Vietnam
Supermarkets and fruit stores across Vietnam are witnessing an unprecedented demand for US cherries, thanks to their record-low prices. Priced at around VND299,000 per kilogram, with some major retail chains offering promotions as low as VND189,000, these prices are nearly half of what they were last year.

Shift in Import Sources and Rising Demand
This year, online stores and supermarkets are importing large quantities of cherries from the U.S. instead of Chile, a significant shift from previous years. WinCommerce, operating the WinMart chain, is running a promotion at VND299,000 per kilogram, a significant drop from the original price, leading to a surge in demand.
MM Mega Market reports selling cherries at VND189,000, with demand skyrocketing by 140% compared to last year.
Impact of Tariffs and Weather Conditions
The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association notes that cherry imports are among the fastest-growing fruit categories in 2025, with a 43% year-on-year increase. Favorable weather conditions in the U.S. have boosted sweet cherry output by 8% to an estimated 383,000 tons.
However, exports to China, a major market, have declined due to high import tariffs, pushing U.S. exporters to explore new markets like Vietnam, South Korea, and Japan.

Future Prospects
With Vietnam negotiating to reduce import tariffs on American goods to zero, US cherry prices are expected to become even more competitive, further fueling the shopping frenzy among Vietnamese consumers.
