Block Inc. Introduces Native Bitcoin Payments on Square

In a groundbreaking move, Block Inc., the brainchild of former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, has officially launched native bitcoin payments for a select group of merchants through its widely-used Square payment platform.

This innovative feature empowers sellers to accept bitcoin directly through Square's Point of Sale (POS) app, leveraging the Lightning Network for swift transactions. Notably, this process bypasses the need for converting bitcoin into traditional fiat currencies such as dollars or euros.

A New Era for Digital Payments

The rollout commenced on Monday, with Owen Jennings, an executive officer at Block, heralding the initiative with the statement, "This is the way," marking the successful onboarding of the first cohort of sellers.
