India's First Mid-Haul Electric Truck Launches

In a landmark development for India's logistics and sustainability sectors, Agarwal Packers & Movers Ltd. (APML), Henkel India, and Kalyani Powertrain Ltd. have unveiled the country's first mid-haul re-powered electric truck. This 8-tonne vehicle, featuring an indigenously developed electric powertrain kit, can travel up to 250 kilometers on a single charge with a full cargo load, marking a significant step towards decarbonizing medium-haul freight transport.

Setting a New Standard for Green Logistics

APML's initiative not only pioneers the use of electric trucks in long-haul logistics but also sets a new benchmark for the industry. With the potential to avoid over 50 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually per truck, this project underscores the viability of electric mobility solutions in freight transport.

Operational Routes and Infrastructure

The electric truck will initially operate on key intercity routes, including Chennai to Pune and Pune to Halol. Strategic placement of fast DC charging stations along these corridors ensures efficiency and minimizes downtime, facilitating a smooth transition to electric freight transport.
