Unlocking Vietnam's Fruit Export Potential
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment recently hosted a forum titled "Solutions to Enhance Competitiveness and Promote the Export of High-Potential Fruits," drawing hundreds of participants both in-person and online. The spotlight was on passion fruit, banana, pineapple, and coconut, identified as Vietnam's next strategic export items.

Vietnam's Fruit Export Landscape
With over 50 fruit varieties cultivated across more than 1.3 million hectares, Vietnam has seen durian exports surpass the $1 billion mark. However, passion fruit, banana, pineapple, and coconut are now in the limelight for their substantial production capacity and alignment with global trends.
Challenges and Opportunities
Despite their potential, the sector faces hurdles like disease-resistant variety shortages and underdeveloped supply chains. Yet, with strategic restructuring and government support, these fruits could follow durian's success.
Global Market Potential
Vietnamese pineapples, for instance, are making waves internationally, with products like DOVECO’s concentrated juice reaching over 50 countries. The coconut sector also promises growth, especially when combined with other fruits to diversify offerings.
Moving Forward
To capitalize on these opportunities, Vietnam must modernize its agriculture, enhance post-harvest technologies, and expand market access, ensuring a greener, more competitive fruit industry on the global stage.
