Sona Comstar AGM Proceeds Despite Family Plea
Amid a brewing ownership dispute at Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar) following the sudden death of its chairman Sunjay Kapur, the company confirmed it conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This decision came despite a request for postponement by Rani Kapur, the mother of the late chairman.

Allegations of Legacy Usurpation
Rani Kapur, former chairperson of the Sona Group, alleged in a letter that some individuals are attempting to seize control of the family legacy during their mourning period. She also raised concerns about the suspicious circumstances surrounding her son's death in the UK.
Shareholder Status Dispute
The company countered Rani Kapur's claims by stating she has not been recorded as a shareholder since 2019, emphasizing that Sunjay Kapur was identified as the sole beneficial owner of the RK Family Trust.
New Board Appointment Sparks Controversy
The AGM saw the appointment of Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay Kapur's wife, as a Non-Executive Director, a move Rani Kapur claims was made without her consent, further intensifying the family dispute over control of Sona Comstar.
