Reliance Consumer Products Eyes Baidyanath's Shunya for a Healthy Beverage Market Leap

Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL) is in early talks to acquire a majority stake in Shunya, a premium zero-sugar fruit drink brand by Baidyanath Group's Naturedge Beverages.

This potential acquisition marks Reliance's fourth venture into the beverage sector, following its purchases of Campa Cola, Sosyo, and RasKik. Shunya, launched in 2018 by Siddhesh Sharma, offers functional, herb-based drinks in unique flavors like ‘zesty apple’ and ‘zesty orange’.

Reliance Consumer Products in talks to acquire Baidyanath's Shunya drinks; to invest Rs 8,000 crore in beverages: Report

Strategic Expansion: The move aligns with Reliance’s strategy to invest in mid-sized consumer brands across various categories, including beverages, confectionery, and condiments. With brands like Ravalgaon, Toffeeman, and Lotus Chocolates already in its portfolio, RCPL is aggressively expanding its footprint in the beverage space.

Investment Plans: RCPL plans to invest nearly ₹8,000 crore over the next 12–15 months to scale production capacity, adding around a dozen new greenfield and co-packing plants to compete with giants like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo.

The demand for low- and no-sugar drinks and juices has seen rapid growth, especially in urban India, driven by a shift towards health-conscious and functional beverage options.
