Infrastructure Development

Part of the funding, Rs 1,000 crore, is dedicated to establishing 50 multi-product food irradiation units and 100 NABL-accredited food testing laboratories. These initiatives are expected to significantly reduce post-harvest losses and ensure food safety standards.

Expected Outcomes

The food irradiation units alone are projected to create a preservation capacity of 20 to 30 Lakh Metric Tonnes annually. Meanwhile, the new labs will play a crucial role in maintaining food safety and quality assurance.

Implementation Strategy

The schemes will follow a demand-driven approach, with projects being approved based on Expressions of Interest (EOI) and strict eligibility criteria.
