Staffing Trends in India's IT Sector
Hiring in India’s IT services sector has remained largely flat for the past six to seven quarters, with no visible signs of revival in the July-September period either, according to Quess Corp executive director and CEO Guruprasad Srinivasan.
He noted a shift in demand from traditional IT companies to global capability centres (GCCs) and non-IT sectors, highlighting the growing importance of skills in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.

Quess Corp's Performance Highlights
Quess Corp reported a 4% year-on-year increase in consolidated profit after tax at Rs 51 crore for the June 2025 quarter. The growth was attributed to the professional staffing segment, despite challenges in general staffing and overseas business.
Srinivasan emphasized the company’s improved revenue mix, with professional staffing achieving its best quarterly performance in over 15 years.
Sectoral Growth and Challenges
Manufacturing led staffing additions, followed by BFSI, consumer retail, and telecom. However, retail and telecom saw slight declines. BFSI remains a primary growth driver, while auto, pharma, retail, and manufacturing face pressure from tariff-related headwinds.
The company’s exposure to GCCs stands at 73%, with 12 new contracts added during the quarter, promising headcount growth in upcoming quarters.
