VINCI Energies Secures €1.2B Deal to Build Spain's Largest Biofuel Plant, Pioneering Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production

VINCI Energies SA's Landmark Biofuel Project in Spain

In a significant step towards sustainable energy, VINCI Energies SA's subsidiaries Grupo Cobra and Masa have been awarded a €1.2 billion contract to construct Spain's largest second-generation biofuel plant in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva. Commissioned by Moeve and Apical, this groundbreaking project was unveiled on Monday, marking a pivotal moment in renewable energy development.

Revolutionizing Fuel Production with Sustainability at Its Core

The new facility is set to produce an impressive 500,000 tonnes of sustainable fuels annually, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel. By utilizing agricultural waste and used cooking oil, the plant not only champions environmental sustainability but also pioneers in recycling efforts, operating solely on recycled water. Expected to slash CO₂ emissions by 75% compared to traditional refineries, this project is a testament to the potential of green energy.

Strengthening Spain's Position in the Global Energy Transition

This ambitious project not only underscores Spain's strategic role in the energy transition but also aligns with VINCI's overarching sustainability objectives. With VINCI generating €3.8 billion in revenue from its Spanish operations in 2024, the country's importance to the group's global strategy is unmistakably highlighted.
