Sharp Decline in Honda's Quarterly Profits
Honda Motor Co. Ltd. has reported a significant downturn in its financial performance for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The company's consolidated profit attributable to owners of the parent plummeted by 50.2% year on year, landing at ¥196.7 billion ($1.33 billion).
Earnings and Revenue Figures
The diluted earnings per share for the quarter were ¥46.80, a stark decrease from ¥81.81 in the same period last year. Operating profit also saw a dramatic fall of 49.6% to ¥244.2 billion, while sales revenue experienced a slight decline of 1.2% to ¥5.3 trillion.
Revised Forecasts Amid Economic Pressures
In light of current economic conditions, including the impact of tariffs and fluctuating foreign exchange rates, Honda has revised its fiscal year outlook. The automaker now anticipates a 2.7% drop in revenue and a 49.8% decrease in profit attributable to owners of the parent, adjusting its previous forecast issued in May.
