Apple's Strategic Shift in iPhone Assembly
In a significant announcement, Apple CEO Tim Cook disclosed that the final assembly of iPhones will be conducted "elsewhere for a while." This revelation came alongside the announcement of an additional $100 billion investment in Apple's United States-based operations, highlighting a strategic pivot in the company's manufacturing and operational focus.
Strengthening US Operations
During his appearance with US President Donald Trump, Cook elaborated on Apple's commitment to bolstering its US operations. "We're doing a lot of the semiconductors here, doing the glass here, doing the Face ID module here," Cook stated, underscoring the breadth of Apple's domestic manufacturing efforts.
He further emphasized, "So there's a ton of it. And we're doing these for products sold elsewhere in the world. So there's a lot of content in there from the United States," pointing to the global impact of Apple's US-based production.
