US President Downplays Semiconductor Export Fears
In a recent statement, US President Donald Trump downplayed concerns regarding the export of NVIDIA's H20 chips to China, labeling them as "obsolete." He argued that China already has the capability to replicate or assemble similar technology from existing resources.
Advanced Chips Remain Restricted
Trump highlighted that NVIDIA's Blackwell chip, described as the "latest and greatest in the world," would remain off-limits to China for the next five years. However, he hinted at the possibility of allowing a downgraded version with reduced capabilities to be exported.
Negotiating Benefits for the US
Additionally, the President mentioned negotiating a 20% return to the US from approvals of H20 exports, framing it as a strategic benefit for the country.
