MUMBAI: A Strategic Investment in the Spirits Industry
Zerodha co-founder and billionaire investor Nikhil Kamath has made a significant investment in film actor Shah Rukh Khan's spirits business, marking his deepening involvement in India's burgeoning alcobev sector. This move follows his earlier stake purchase in Radico Khaitan, the country's fourth-largest liquor player.

Details of the Investment
Kamath now owns 5% of D'yavol Spirits, a venture founded by Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan. Additionally, he holds a 1.7% stake in Radico Khaitan, valued at Rs 660 crore, which he regards as a "great investment" and a "miniature partner" in the company.
The Partnership Dynamics
Radico Khaitan, under the leadership of Abhishek Khaitan, has acquired a 47.5% stake in D'yavol Spirits for Rs 40 crore, becoming the largest shareholder. The remaining 47.5% is held by the Khans and their friends, Harprit Singh and Leti Blagoeva.
Expanding the Portfolio
Since their foray into the distribution of premium spirits in 2022, the founders have launched D'yavol single estate vodka, Inception blended malt scotch whisky, and Vortex scotch whisky. The startup is set to introduce D'yavol Anejo tequila in India, a move inspired by the quality of the product and the collaborative spirit with Shah Rukh Khan.
