Historic Milestone: Stock Market Surges Past 1,600 Points for the First Time Ever

Market Achieves Record High

The index marked a historic achievement by closing 11.4 points higher, following an 11.9 point increase in the previous session. This marks the seventh consecutive session of gains, showcasing a robust upward trend in the market.

Trading Volume and Key Performers

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange saw a 0.3% increase, reaching VND45.43 trillion (US$1.73 billion). The VN30 basket, which includes the 30 largest capped stocks, witnessed 19 tickers on the rise. LPB of Fortune Vietnam Bank led the charge with a 6.3% gain, closely followed by HDB of HDBank, which rose by 3.6%.

Notable Gains and Losses

Among the blue chips, BID of state-owned lender BIDV and VJC of budget airline Vietjet saw increases of 3.2% and 2.4%, respectively. However, not all stocks shared in the success, with nine blue chips experiencing declines, including SSI of SSI Securities Corporation and VIB of Vietnam International Commercial Bank, both closing 2% lower.

Foreign Investment Trends

Foreign investors continued their trend as net sellers for the fourth consecutive session, totaling VND688 billion. Their sales were concentrated in FPT of FPT Corporation, VHM of Vinhomes, and SSI of SSI Securities Corporation.

Other Market Indices

The HNX-Index for the Hanoi Stock Exchange remained unchanged, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market saw a slight decrease of 0.05%.
