Amazon's Bold Expansion into Same-Day Grocery Delivery

In a significant move to dominate the grocery delivery market, Amazon.com, Inc. unveiled plans on Wednesday to extend its same-day perishable grocery delivery service to more than 2,300 US cities and towns by the end of 2025. This expansion is poised to be one of the company's most ambitious grocery initiatives, incorporating a wide range of fresh items into its rapid delivery network.
What This Means for Consumers
Currently operational in over 1,000 locations, the service seamlessly integrates fresh groceries with millions of other Amazon.com products, enabling customers to receive their orders within hours. Prime members enjoy the added benefit of free same-day delivery for orders exceeding $25 in most cities, with a nominal fee for smaller orders. Non-Prime members can access the service for a flat fee, regardless of order size.
