GE Appliances Unveils Major US Expansion Plan
In a bold move to strengthen its presence in the United States, GE Appliances, a subsidiary of Haier Smart Home Co. Ltd., has announced a staggering $3 billion investment over the next five years. This initiative aims to expand operations, modernize manufacturing plants across several states, and create approximately 1,000 new jobs.
Strategic Investments Across Key States
The comprehensive plan includes significant upgrades to facilities in Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Notably, Louisville is set to receive a $490 million investment for new washer and dryer production lines, which is expected to generate 800 jobs. Additionally, the company plans to insource refrigerator production and increase the US manufacturing of gas ranges, shifting production from Mexico to the US.
Commitment to Innovation and Job Creation
CEO Kevin Nolan emphasized the company's dedication to US manufacturing, stating, "This investment underscores our commitment to innovation, job creation, and the future of American manufacturing." GE Appliances' contributions to the US economy are substantial, with over $30 billion added annually to the GDP and more than 113,000 jobs supported nationwide.
Since 2016, GE Appliances has invested over $3.5 billion in US manufacturing and distribution, demonstrating a long-term commitment to economic growth and technological advancement in the sector.
