Power Almost Fully Restored in Spain After Widespread Outage
Following a significant blackout that affected the Iberian Peninsula, Spain's electricity grid operator, Red Electrica, has successfully restored 99.16% of the power demand. The operator confirmed that all transmission grid substations are now fully operational.
Portugal's Recovery Progress
In neighboring Portugal, the grid operator REN reported that power has been reinstated at 85 out of 89 substations, marking significant progress towards full recovery.
Cause of the Blackout
The incident was attributed to grid oscillations, with European Commissioner Teresa Ribera emphasizing that there is no evidence to suggest the outage was the result of sabotage or a cyberattack.
