Germany's Economy Expands Modestly in Early 2025
In a preliminary report released on Wednesday, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced that Germany's price, seasonally and calendar adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) experienced a 0.2% growth in the first quarter of the year.
Yearly and Monthly Comparisons Show Mixed Results
When compared to the same period in the previous year, the GDP saw a decline of 0.4%, and a 0.2% decrease month-on-month, highlighting the ongoing economic challenges.
Positive Signs in Consumption and Investment
Despite these figures, the report highlighted an increase in household final consumption expenditure and capital formation compared to the final quarter of 2024, suggesting some areas of economic resilience.
